Introduction

Blogging ? I thought, what on earth is that?. I have normally thought of blogging as a way of people to advertise a product they are flogging, or as a tool for would be political journalists to get a toehold into the media world of "proper" political journalism. I then sat back and thought about the use of data, information and technology. I thought about their uses, of where they match and where they do not. Of how the world has changed over the last 45 years and how technology and apps and media run the modern world. I then came across a journal and read this:-

"Technology is now being widely used in the classroom to enhance and enrich teaching and learning. The availability of new information technology is contributing to many innovations in classroom activities. Strategies/techniques now used to support technology in teaching and learning enable teachers to work collaboratively with students while the students themselves become more immersed in their own learning. The purpose of this paper is to explore the integration of technology in the education process and some of the changes they have generated in classroom activities" (Duhaney, 2000, p.67).

I then realised that despite the fact that I classify myself as a "digital immigrant" (Prensky 2001, p.1), I have in fact been learning about new technology all the time without realising it. The learning has been "active" learning from being put on courses through previous employers to learn about new technology in order to do my job, or subliminal learning by completing tasks by trial and error. Whether we realise it or not we have all been drawn into learning by the use of and through the use of utilising new technology in the modern world.
